Interior Minister Unveils Advanced Research Vessel “Al Mesaha 2050” to Boost Bahrain’s Marine Development

Manama: On behalf of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, inaugurated the advanced research vessel "Al Mesaha 2050". The inauguration signifies a pivotal step in the National Strategy of the Survey and Land Registration Bureau (SLRB), aiming to establish a reliable national data system to aid strategic decision-making and bolster economic development initiatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah expressed pride in the accomplishments of the development and modernization drive led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with government backing from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He affirmed that Bahrain's security and stability are fundamental for attracting investment and advancing sustainable development goals in harmony with the Government Programme.

The Interior Minister underscored that the launch of Al Mesaha 2050 demonstrates the adoption of cutting-edge systems and AI-supported technologies to monitor and safeguard the marine environment, improve the safety of navigation routes, and support sustainable development.

Gen. Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah emphasized Bahrain's provision of a secure and appealing environment for both local and foreign investments, facilitated by stable and adaptable legislation. The country is developing mechanisms to sustain the national economy through the preservation of natural resources, strengthening marine reserves, and implementing programs ensuring a secure maritime environment.

Basem bin Yaqoub Al Hamer, President of SLRB, highlighted that under the leadership of HM the King and with directives from HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Bahrain is steadfast in executing sustainable development and infrastructure projects that fortify the Kingdom's comprehensive development across all sectors.

He explained that the vessel's inauguration represents a milestone in the qualitative transformation of the bureau by developing a trusted national data system that supports strategic decision-making, serves economic development programs, and aligns with the objectives of the Government Programme 2023 - 2026 and Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030.

The construction of Al Mesaha 2050 is part of efforts to enhance the exploration and management of marine sands, ensuring their optimal use as a natural resource, while supporting the real estate sector as one of the Kingdom's key non-oil industries. It also contributes to attracting investments and encouraging effective partnerships with the private sector in developing infrastructure projects.

The ceremony featured a documentary screening highlighting over 100 years of SLRB's progress, showcasing milestones and achievements that have strengthened the national surveying system and supported Bahrain's development.

Attendees were briefed on the vessel's technical systems and advanced capabilities, including the latest depth measurement technologies, geophysical surveying equipment, advanced laboratories for seabed analysis and sand sediment monitoring. The vessel is equipped with 3D survey systems, high-precision positioning devices, tidal and current measurement technologies, and integrated AI applications for real-time data analysis and decision support.
