Interior Minister receives Ombudsman’s annual report for 2020-2021

Interior Minister, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, today received Ombudsman, Nawaf Mohammed Al-Ma’awda.

Chief of Public Security and Interior Ministry Undersecretary attended.

The Interior Minister expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Office of the Ombudsman to carry out its legal responsibilities and professionalism principles of objectivity, neutrality and adherence to relevant laws, to promote the rule of law and contribute to promoting reform and justice.

He highlighted the importance of reinforcing the values of transparency, accountability and constructive interaction with supervisory authorities within the state of organisations and law. He noted that developing awareness and supervisory authorities’ work mechanisms contributes to enhancing performance and services and achieving the targeted goals.

During the meeting, the Interior Minister received a copy of the Office of Ombudsman’s annual report for 2020-21. He directed the directorates concerned at the Interior Ministry to respond quickly to the MoI-related points in the report.

The swift response comes within the community partnership strategy to promote cooperation with all national organisations and NGOs.

The Ombudsman expressed thanks to the Interior Minister for his keenness to reinforce cooperation with the Office of the Ombudsman. He said that such collaboration has contributed to the success of the Office of the Ombudsman’s operations. The Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs also attended.
