Interior Minister Receives ‘Maan’ Programme Team to Combat Violence and Addiction

Manama: General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Follow-Up Committee of the National Plan to Promote the Spirit of Belonging to the Nation and Reinforce National Values (Bahrainouna), welcomed the "Maan" (Together) programme team, which focuses on combating violence and addiction. The meeting coincided with Community Partnership and Belonging to the Nation Day, celebrated annually on March 18.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister stressed that community partnership is not just an ideal but a responsibility that aligns with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. This vision aims to enhance the social role of the Bahrain Police, ensuring community security and fostering a trusted relationship between the police and the public.

The minister acknowledged the support and supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This backing has been instrumental in launching numerous projects, notably the Maan programme, which has been expanded to include new curricula.

The minister praised the community police's efforts in actively engaging with the public and maintaining a significant presence at public gatherings. He highlighted the need for a smart, effective security presence that supports the community without being overbearing.

Moreover, the minister appreciated the Maan programme's impact on fostering a safer society, particularly its success in educational settings where it has raised awareness and curbed negative behaviors.

The discussion also covered several recent studies and research initiatives undertaken by the Maan programme, as well as various practical and theoretical frameworks, security models, and international certifications the programme has achieved.
