Information Minister praises Bahraini women’s achievements

Information Affairs Minister, Ali bin Mohammed Al-Romaihi, extended sincerest congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and to His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the 20th Anniversary of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW).

 

The minister hailed the major role played by the SCW in enhancing Bahraini women’s advancement and increasing their pioneering contributions locally and internationally, being worthy and equal partners in the comprehensive and sustainable development march.

 

Minister Al-Romaihi expressed sincere congratulations to Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and SCW President, on the occasion, praising HRH’s fruitful efforts, and affirming the national media’s pride in highlighting the distinguished achievements of the SCW over the past two decades in enhancing Bahraini women’s advancement, integrating their needs in the development programme, within the framework of equality, fairness, competitiveness and equal opportunities, in accordance with the Constitution, the Economic Vision for Bahrain 2030 and the Government Action Plan.

 

The minister indicated that the royal directives and the SCW’s initiatives have consolidated family and social stability, and paved the way for Bahraini women to exercise their rights and take part in supporting the democratic process in the kingdom, citing their success in holding the highest executive, legislative, judicial, diplomatic and media positions, their presence in the labour market by 55% in the public sector and 35% in the private sector, the honourable sacrifices they make at the frontlines of Team Bahrain’s fight against the pandemic, in addition to their support of the SCW’s humanitarian campaign, “Together for Bahrain’s Safety.”

 

The minister stressed that Bahrain has every right to be proud of its pioneering achievements in the field of institutional women work over the past two decades, as well as of the honourable record of its women for their success in reaching a prestigious international status, citing their membership in the Women Committee and Executive Board of UN Women, in addition to the international acclaim of the second edition of the “Princess Sabeeka Bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa Global Award for Women’s Empowerment”.
