Industry Minister Highlights Support for Bahrain’s Manufacturing Sector as Cornerstone of National Economy

Manama: Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, underscored Bahrain's strong backing for the manufacturing sector, highlighting its role as a cornerstone of the national economy.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the Minister emphasized the importance of continuing efforts to localize industries and replace imports with high-quality domestic products. This, he noted, contributes to greater competitiveness, self-sufficiency, and empowers the local industrial sector to maintain its vital role in driving sustainable development.

The Minister pointed out that Decision (63) of 2025 regarding regulations for exempting industrial inputs from customs duties provides exemptions to industrial establishments if certain conditions are met. These conditions include scenarios where inputs are not produced or available within Bahrain, cannot be obtained according to the standards adopted by the industrial establishment, local production is not feasible within a specified period, or when the local cost exceeds the imported equivalent by more than 10%.

He explained that these regulations are a strategic step to enhance the competitiveness of the industrial sector, develop local content, and increase local added value, thereby supporting the sustainability of supply chains within Bahrain. This move also strengthens the capacity of Bahraini industrial establishments to expand and grow.

Minister Fakhro added that the development of economic and regulatory policies that support local content aligns with the objectives of the Industry Sector Strategy (2022 - 2026). This strategy enables Bahraini manufacturers to improve productivity and competitiveness, enhance Bahrain's position as an advanced industrial hub both regionally and internationally, and support the Bahrain Economic Vision 2030.
