Industry Minister Emphasizes Efforts to Ensure Availability of Goods and Price Stability Ahead of Ramadan

Manama: Abdullah bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, underscored that with the approach of the holy month of Ramadan, the ministry continues to intensify its efforts to ensure the supply of adequate quantities of various goods and to enhance the smooth preparations ahead of the month. This includes ensuring essential food items are available and promotional offers are accurate as part of the ministry's market monitoring to maintain a steady supply of goods year-round, especially during special occasions. Minister Fakhro noted that the local market has a wide variety of goods in abundance with stable prices, meeting the needs of citizens and residents.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister highlighted that as part of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's consumer protection efforts, the Consumer Protection Directorate launched the third edition of the Consumer-Friendly initiative ahead of Ramadan. The initiative aims to ensure goods, especially food items, remain available and prices stable by offering discounted Ramadan baskets in cooperation with the private sector, promoting solidarity and social responsibility.

Minister Fakhro added that the Consumer Protection Directorate, in cooperation with the private sector, launched the awareness campaign 'During the Month of Goodness, Our Consumer is Different' on the Ministry of Industry and Commerce's official social media channels. The campaign aims to educate consumers on the standards and principles of buying and selling during Ramadan.

The campaign also seeks to raise overall awareness of consumer rights by disseminating awareness messages on the official platforms of participating commercial outlets and displaying them across these stores. This initiative aims to enhance consumer awareness in the Kingdom of Bahrain and introduce smart and sustainable consumption practices.

The minister added that the ministry will honour participants and responsive private sector entities by awarding them certificates and recognition plaques indicating their participation in the initiative.

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce urges all private sector representatives to take advantage of the Consumer-Friendly national initiative and register with the Consumer Protection Directorate to leave a social impact on consumers in the Kingdom. The ministry also reiterates its call to report any commercial violations or misconduct through the official channels dedicated to receiving complaints and inquiries at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce or via the National Suggestions and Complaints System (Tawasul).
