Manama: The Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA) in Bahrain has launched the "Global Digital Twinning for eGovernment Excellence," a pilot initiative aimed at fostering international collaboration in digital governance. This program, directed by His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, seeks to share Bahrain's digital governance expertise with partnering nations to support their development goals. According to Bahrain News Agency, the program was inaugurated with a launch event chaired by iGA Chief Executive Mohamed Ali Al Qaed, attended by representatives from Tunisia and the Comoros. The event highlighted Bahrain's achievements in digital transformation, which have secured the country the 18th position globally in the 2024 UN E-Government Survey and a high ranking on the UN E-Government Development Index. Al Qaed emphasized Bahrain's pivotal role in advancing global digi tal transformation through collaboration with partner countries. He underscored the program's potential to drive innovation, enhance governance, and broaden access to government services worldwide, with the hope of attracting more countries to contribute to global digital excellence. The iGA Chief Executive presented the agency's success in employing advanced digital technologies and global best practices. He noted over 750 government services available through the national portal, bahrain.bh, and the launch of more than 15 mobile apps accessible via the Government App Store. Al Qaed also elaborated on key systems integral to Bahrain's digital transformation, such as the Sijilat system and the Benayat system, which simplify procedures for merchants, investors, and real estate development. Further discussions included the national appointment system and Tawasul, a feedback platform for citizens and residents. The iGA's efforts have resulted in over 13 services being available through self-service kiosks, wit h a 90% digitalisation rate, reducing costs and saving time significantly. Al Qaed highlighted the use of technologies such as cloud computing, AI, and big data in enhancing service quality and systems. He also discussed strategic partnerships and digital strategies that are propelling Bahrain's efforts forward, including the Open Data Platform, data.gov.bh, which promotes public engagement through accessible data. Efforts to improve customer service were also addressed, with the Government Service Centre Evaluation Committee playing a role in encouraging digital adoption among government entities. The Technical Development Programme was mentioned as a key initiative for nurturing innovation and young talent in the tech sector. iGA officials shared insights into digital transformation efforts, including system development and service reengineering. Delegates were briefed on the ID Card Centre's procedures and iGA's innovative projects. Visits to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Bahrain FinTech Bay, a nd the BENEFIT Company provided the delegation with deeper insights into Bahrain's digital initiatives and payment systems.
