ICAO Recognizes Bahraini Official for Advancements in Civil Aviation

Montreal: The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) honored Ebtisam Mohammed Al Shamlan, Assistant Undersecretary for Air Transport, Aviation Safety and Security at the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications, during the opening of the 42nd session of the ICAO Assembly held in Canada.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Shamlan expressed pride in the progress of Bahraini women under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She highlighted their support in strengthening women's role as active partners in national development.

She further noted that this recognition reflects the constant support extended to Bahraini women by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW). Her efforts have played a key role in advancing Bahraini women and supporting their success internationally.

Al Shamlan was selected from among nominees representing ICAO's 193 member states, in recognition of her achievements over three decades in the air transport sector and her contributions to civil aviation at the national, regional, and international levels.

The award forms part of ICAO's initiative to honor women contributing to sustainable development in civil aviation. It aims at promoting gender equality and encouraging women's participation in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 5 on gender equality.
