Gudaibiya: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting at Gudaibiya Palace today. The meeting focused on several key issues, including directives for the development of religious infrastructure and the achievements of Bahraini women.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the Cabinet reviewed the implementation of directives from the Crown Prince and Prime Minister to inaugurate, restore, and develop 40 mosques under the Sunni and Ja'fari Endowments across various governorates. The initiative aims to enhance infrastructure and improve services for worshippers throughout the year.
The Cabinet also took the opportunity to review the achievements of Bahraini women, attributing their success to the programmes and strategies of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW). These initiatives are led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the SCW, in celebration of the upcoming International Women's Day.
The Cabinet congratulated the Bahrain Olympic Committee for being named the Best Arab Olympic Body for 2024 by the Arab Federation for Sports Culture. The Committee, led by His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has been commended for its initiatives to strengthen the sports sector in the Kingdom.
Several memorandums were discussed and approved during the meeting. These included a Memorandum of Understanding between the General Directorate of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing and the Arab Open University for educational programme provision, the acquisition of real estate for urban development, and responses to proposals from the Council of Representatives.
The Cabinet also reviewed a progress report from the Ministry of Works on projects within the 2023-2026 Government Plan. Additionally, ministerial reports were noted, including outcomes from official visits by the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs to the United Kingdom and an educational delegation from the UAE to Bahrain, as well as the agenda for upcoming international ministerial visits.
