HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Restructures National Taskforce on Noncommunicable Diseases

Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has issued Edict (72) of 2025 concerning the restructuring of the National Taskforce on the Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases. This decision follows a proposal from the Minister of Health and subsequent approval by the Cabinet.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the edict outlines the composition of the taskforce, which will be chaired by the Minister of Health. The taskforce includes representatives from various governmental departments, such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Ministry of Youth Affairs, Executive Office of the Supreme Council for the Environment, Ministry of Education, and the National Communication Centre. Additionally, key figures from the healthcare sector, including representatives from the Primary Health Care Centres, Government Hospitals, Mohammed bin Khalifa Specialist Cardiac Centre, King Hamad University Hospital, Bahrain Diabetes Society, and Bahrain Cancer Society, are appointed as members.

The edict specifies that the Head of the Non-Communicable Diseases Group at the Public Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health will serve as the rapporteur of the taskforce. The Minister of Health, along with relevant authorities, is tasked with implementing the provisions of this edict, which will come into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
