HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain Meets Malaysian Prime Minister to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Kuala Lumpur: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain, met with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Yang Amat Berhormat Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, during his official visit to Malaysia.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting underscored the commitment of both nations to enhance the existing strong ties and cooperation across various sectors.

The Crown Prince conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Malaysian Prime Minister, who reciprocated with greetings for HM the King. The discussions focused on further strengthening the strategic partnership to foster cooperation and explore opportunities that benefit both countries. They also reviewed the latest regional and international developments, addressing shared interests.

The leaders witnessed the signing of several significant agreements and memoranda of understanding. These included the establishment of a political consultation mechanism, cooperation in human resource management in the civil service, strengthening trade and economic relations, and academic cooperation through the exchange of professors and joint academic programs. Additionally, agreements were made regarding sovereignty over subscriber data, sea-to-air partner services, and collaboration in the development of industrial parks.

His Royal Highness emphasized Bahrain's support for joint efforts to establish a Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states and Malaysia, as well as with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). He highlighted the importance of such agreements in enhancing trade, fostering investment opportunities, and supporting sustainable development.

The Crown Prince also underscored the significance of the second ASEAN-GCC Summit and the inaugural ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, hosted by Malaysia, expressing his best wishes for their success in further strengthening cooperation between the GCC and Southeast Asian nations.
