Manama: On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, attended the closing ceremony of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship at the Royal Golf Club.
According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister attributed Bahrain’s successes in hosting international championships to His Majesty the King’s support and the efforts of the national workforce. HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad highlighted the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship as a significant international golf tournament, emphasizing the Kingdom’s sports and tourism capabilities.
HRH Prince Salman acknowledged the contributions of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa in supporting the youth and sports sectors and enhancing Bahrain’s ability to host international sporting events. During the ceremony, HRH Prince Salman awarded the championship trophy to the winner, Freddy Schott of Germany, and the second-place trophy to Calum Hill of Scotland.
The Championship saw participation from 138 players representing 28 countries. HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister also presented certificates of appreciation to various individuals and organizations, including HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company, Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, and others for their contributions to the tournament’s success.
HRH Prince Salman praised the efforts of Bapco Energies, sponsors, partners, committees, and volunteers that led to the event’s success. Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, Acting Managing Director of Bapco Energies and CEO of Bapco Refining, emphasized the Championship’s role in reinforcing Bahrain’s standing in international sports.
Tom Phillips, Director of the Middle East for the DP World Tour, affirmed the Championship’s status as a flagship event on the DP World Tour, highlighting Bahrain’s growing stature in the international sports arena. Phillips noted the Championship’s role within the DP World Tour’s International Swing, showcasing Bahrain alongside prestigious tournaments and reinforcing its vision as a leading destination for sport, tourism, and business. Several senior officials also attended the event.
