Manama: His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has issued Edict (18) of 2025, which amends Article (30) of the Executive Regulations of the Civil Service Law. This amendment, based on a proposal by the Civil Service Bureau (CSB), updates the law initially promulgated by Legislative Decree (48) of 2010 and issued by Edict (51) of 2012.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the key change involves Clause (z) of Paragraph (1) of Article (30). It stipulates that employees suffering from chronic illnesses, who have exhausted both their regular and additional sick leave, will be entitled to an additional paid sick leave of up to thirty working days per year. This additional leave will be granted if deemed necessary by the competent medical authority. The chronic illnesses that qualify employees for this leave will be determined by a decision issued by the President of the Civil Service Bureau, in coordination with the Minister of Health.
The edict mandates that all ministers, the President of the CSB, and all concerned parties, implement its provisions. The amendment will become effective the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
