Manama: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, underscored the role of Bahraini women and their active contributions in the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the continuous follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister emphasized the significant role of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), led by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King, in supporting women and enhancing their role in the comprehensive development process. The minister highlighted that Bahrain's experience in empowering women across various sectors and elevating them to positions of leadership at all levels has become a model to follow. Bahraini women have progressed beyond mere empowerment to become active partners in the comprehensive development process. The minister emphasized the government's c ommitment to providing housing services that promote family stability while ensuring women's access to these services. This includes eligibility criteria for family members, specific provisions for divorced women and widows, and exemptions for widows with custody of minor children from amounts owed by deceased beneficiaries. The minister revealed that the number of female beneficiaries of housing services has reached more than 5,685 from 2011 to the present. Women benefit from a range of housing services, including ownership services, housing finances, and housing allowance. The criteria for eligibility have been expanded to include single, abandoned, divorced, or widowed Bahraini women, as well as fosters of non-Bahraini children, with considerations for age, income, and rental value. Al Rumaihi expressed pride in the contributions and efforts of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning's female associates in driving recent housing achievements and implementing ongoing and future projects. She highlighte d that women hold approximately 60% of leadership positions and 67% of supervisory roles within the ministry, with female employees comprising 58% of the workforce.
