Housing Minister Engages in Strategic Talks with UN-Habitat Executive Director in Nairobi

Manama: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, engaged in a significant meeting with Anacl¡udia Rossbach, Executive Director of UN-Habitat, during the Kingdom of Bahrain's participation in the UN-Habitat General Assembly in Nairobi, Kenya. The discussions centered on potential cooperation and partnerships to advance sustainable urban development, along with housing and urban planning topics highlighted in the Assembly's sessions.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Minister Al Rumaihi presented the latest housing programmes initiated by the ministry in collaboration with the private sector. These include the housing finance programme and the land development rights programme, alongside efforts to introduce projects and services in new housing cities. She emphasized Bahrain's success in adopting innovative housing policies and reaffirmed the Kingdom's dedication to the UN Sustainable Development Goals 2030, particularly Goal 11, by integrating sustainability standards into urban planning.

Rossbach acknowledged Bahrain's innovative approaches in delivering housing services and its advancements towards achieving the 2030 SDGs, especially Goal 11. She expressed optimism for continued collaboration and extended her wishes for Bahrain's ongoing success.

On the sidelines, Minister Al Rumaihi also conferred with Mohamed Al Mansoori, Director General of Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme in the United Arab Emirates. She emphasized the robust relationship between Bahrain and the UAE and their sustained cooperation across various sectors. Both parties examined efforts to provide housing services, explored avenues for collaboration in urban planning and development, and agreed to exchange expertise and visits to bolster housing and urban development initiatives. Discussions also covered topics pertinent to the 2030 SDGs.

Furthermore, Minister Al Rumaihi met with Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan. They deliberated on efforts to achieve the 2030 SDGs and exchanged perspectives on the forthcoming 13th World Urban Forum, scheduled to be hosted in Baku in 2026.
