Sitra: Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, underscored that the construction work on the Sitra Housing Project is progressing according to schedule, with the second phase, comprising 531 housing units, now 90% complete. Infrastructure work in the same phase has reached 80%, reflecting strong alignment with the project's timeline.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the third phase of the project, which includes 1,269 housing units, the largest and final phase of the development, has surpassed 10% completion, with further progress expected in the coming period. The first phase, which comprised 1,077 units, along with the residential plots, has already been delivered to beneficiaries.
The update came during Minister Al Rumaihi's field visit to the Sitra Housing Project, where she reviewed ongoing work in phases two and three, as well as the latest developments in the provision of secondary infrastructure services. The visit was attended by ministry officials, engineers, and technical staff.
Minister Al Rumaihi noted that the Ministry's implementation approach, in partnership with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), is based on synchronising infrastructure services with construction to allow for the timely handover of units and plots once completed. This method was also successfully applied in the first phase of the project.
She also highlighted that the designs of the housing units in the second and third phases have been upgraded based on citizen feedback collected through ministry surveys. Additionally, several units have been specially adapted to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities.
Minister Al Rumaihi commended CMEC's efforts and cooperation in executing the project's phases and in responding to the ministry's development feedback and ongoing improvement requirements.
She emphasised that the advancement of work on the Sitra Housing Project reflects the government's commitment to accelerating housing provision for citizens. This is achieved through continued construction of housing cities as well as financing options and public-private partnership programmes offering immediate housing solutions.
The Sitra Housing Project is a key initiative under the Government Plan 2023-2026 and is included in the state budget for the fiscal years 2023-2024 and 2025-2026. It aims to provide modern housing in a fully serviced environment that includes schools, healthcare centers, mosques, commercial outlets, and parks, supporting the stability of Bahraini families.
