HM King’s vision of tolerance, coexistence, human fraternity addresses all peoples across the world

King Hamad Global Center for Peaceful Coexistence Secretary-General Shaikh Abdullah bin Ahmed bin Salman Al Khalifa has praised the initiatives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that have led Bahrain to the fore in the countries of the region with positive concepts of peace, tolerance and human fraternity.

Shaikh Abdullah pointed to the great human heritage with which the Kingdom addresses the peoples of the region and the world through initiatives and experiences that have created a robust ground for understanding and coexistence among all religions, cultures and civilizations.

Shaikh Abdullah was welcoming the Minister of State Foreign Commonwealth & Development Affairs (Central & South Asia, Commonwealth, UN, Human Rights) and the PM’s Envoy for Preventing Sexual Violence Lord Tariq Ahmad during his visit to the Center.

Deputy Chairman of the Center Abdulwahab Yousif Al Hawaj and the UK Ambassador to Bahrain Roddy Drummond were present.

The meeting reviewed ways to enhance cooperation between the Center and the British Foreign Commonwealth on the exchange of experiences that enhance tolerance and coexistence between religions, cultures and civilizations, and reject hatred and violence in all its forms and manifestations.

The visiting British official was given a presentation on the objectives and local and international activities of the Center as a pioneering initiative of HM the King to promote tolerance, coexistence and common understanding among all human beings and their intellectual, religious and cultural diversity.

Shaikh Abdullah pointed out that the religious and ethnic diversity in Bahrain embodies the royal vision of the concepts of religious freedom, which has transformed the Kingdom into a global destination with an internationally commendable destination.

He pointed to the presence in Bahrain of the largest Catholic Church in the Arabian Gulf, along dozens of churches, mosques, temples and a synagogue. He also highlighted right of all citizens and residents to exercise their religions freely and peacefully.

Shaikh Abdullah stressed the Kingdom’s keenness, thanks to HM the King’s insightful vision on consolidating pluralism and concepts of religious coexistence and civilized partnerships.

In this regard, he referred to the establishment of the King Hamad Global Center, the launch of the Kingdom of Bahrain Declaration, the King Hamad Chair for Interfaith Dialogue and Peaceful Coexistence courses at Sapienza University in Italy, and other contributions in support of peace and sustainable development.

Lord Ahmad affirmed his country’s keenness to enhance cooperation and partnership with Bahrain in spreading the culture of peace and tolerance and supporting the efforts of the international community in consolidating moderation, rejecting hatred, eliminating extremism and terrorism, and protecting the rights of women and children, especially in times of conflict.

He praised Bahrain’s initiatives in support of tolerance as well as regional and global peace.
