Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ratified and issued Law (2) of 2025, marking a significant step in the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to international road traffic regulations. This law approves Bahrain's accession to the 1949 Geneva Convention on Road Traffic, a move that follows the approval of both the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Article I of the newly ratified law confirms Bahrain's official accession to the 1949 Convention on Road Traffic, which was initially drafted in Geneva on September 19, 1949. The convention, as annexed to the law, aims to facilitate international road traffic and increase road safety through standardized regulations.
Furthermore, Article II of the law mandates that the Prime Minister and the relevant ministers are responsible for implementing its provisions. The law is set to come into effect immediately, the day following its publication in the Official Gazette, ensuring prompt compliance with the international standards outlined in the convention.
