Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa inaugurated the fourth session of the sixth legislative term of the Shura and Representatives Councils. The event took place at the Isa Cultural Centre, attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. According to Bahrain News Agency, His Majesty arrived at the venue, escorted by a mounted police convoy, and was welcomed by Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, Speaker of the Council of Representatives, and Ali bin Saleh Al Saleh, Chairman of the Shura Council. The ceremony began with the national anthem and a recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by His Majesty's speech emphasizing the legislative authority's role in aligning with national aspirations and upholding governance principles rooted in Islamic Sharia and Bahraini traditions. His Majesty highlighted the cooperation between legislative and executive branches under HRH Prince Salman's supervision, resulting in legislative achievements. He mentioned the imminent amendments to the Law on the Regulation of the Press, Printing, and Publishing, underscoring freedom of opinion and expression. He also stressed completing legislative measures to enhance security and economic development, aiming for global competitiveness. The King acknowledged HRH the Crown Prince's initiative to create job opportunities, expressing gratitude to supporting businesses. He emphasized the importance of national identity, scientific advancement, and investing in modern industry, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and outer space exploration to sustain and develop national resources. Highlighting Bahrain's role in achieving regional peace, His Majesty appreciated international efforts and reiterated support for a two-state solution for Palestine. He emphasized the importance of defense and security forces, extending thanks to the Commander-in-Chief and armed forces members. Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam expressed gratitude to His Majesty and HRH the Crown Prince, h ighlighting Bahrain's progress under their leadership. He stressed the commitment to national unity and advancing Bahrain's identity, guided by the National Action Charter and the Constitution. The Speaker lauded the cooperation between government and legislature, noting initiatives for economic growth, investment, and employment opportunities, especially for youth. The Speaker reiterated support for HRH the Crown Prince's employment initiative and praised private sector contributions. He emphasized the Council's dedication to advancing legislative frameworks, promoting responsible freedom of opinion, and supporting innovation and industrial development. He acknowledged the Supreme Council for Women's role in supporting gender equality and praised youth achievements under the guidance of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The Speaker highlighted Bahrain's diplomatic efforts to strengthen regional and international relations, expressing hope for peace in Gaza and support for Palestinian rights. The ceremony concluded with the national anthem, marking the beginning of a new legislative phase underpinned by Bahrain's commitment to progress and development.
