HM King Hamad Ratifies Key Amendments to Law on Associations and Clubs

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has ratified and issued Law (24) of 2025, which amends certain provisions of the law governing associations, social and cultural clubs, and private bodies involved in youth, sports, and private institutions. This move follows the approval of the amendments by both the Shura Council and the Council of Representatives.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the amendments specifically target Article (18) and Clause (3) of Article (89) of the existing law, which was originally promulgated by Decree-Law (21) of 1989. The changes now allow associations to invest surplus funds under regulated conditions. However, the law continues to prohibit political activity, high-risk financial speculation, and the misuse of funds beyond their authorized purposes.

The Prime Minister and ministers are tasked with implementing the provisions of this law, ensuring that it comes into effect the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
