Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree (10) of 2026, which outlines a comprehensive reorganisation of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture. This decision follows a proposal by the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and subsequent approval from the Cabinet.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the decree stipulates that the Ministry will now operate under a new structure. The Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture will oversee various undersecretaries and directors responsible for different facets of municipal and agricultural governance. The reorganisation includes three primary sections: Expropriation and Municipal Councils Affairs, Agriculture and Animal Resources Affairs, and Municipalities Affairs.
The first section, led by the Assistant Undersecretary for Expropriation and Municipal Councils Affairs, will manage the Expropriation and Compensation Directorate along with the Communication and Municipal Councils Affairs Directorate. The second section, under the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Resources Affairs, will encompass the Animal Wealth Directorate and Local Animal Production Directorate. It will also include an Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture Affairs, who will supervise the Local Agricultural Production Directorate and the Vegetation Development Directorate.
The third section, overseen by the Undersecretary for Municipalities Affairs, will incorporate several directorates focused on Information Technology, Human and Financial Resources, and multiple regional municipalities. This section will also have Assistant Undersecretaries for Projects and Public Facilities, managing the Projects Directorate, Public Cleanliness Directorate, Afforestation and Parks Directorate, and Waterfronts Directorate.
The decree also repeals the previous Decree (15) of 2023 that reorganised the Ministry. The new decree is effective immediately upon its issuance and will be published in the Official Gazette.
