Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has issued Decree (14) of 2025, leading to the establishment of the Bahrain Space Agency. This decision comes on the heels of a proposal by the Prime Minister and subsequent approval by the Cabinet.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly formed Bahrain Space Agency will take over the responsibilities and functions previously held by the National Space Science Agency. This change signifies a shift in both name and operational scope.
The Bahrain Space Agency will operate under the Supreme Defence Council's jurisdiction and will fall under the supervision of the Secretary-General of the Supreme Defence Council. This structural change necessitates amendments to all references in Decree (11) of 2014, which initially established the National Space Science Agency.
The decree mandates that the Prime Minister and ministers, in their respective capacities, are responsible for implementing its provisions. The decree will come into effect the day after its publication in the Official Gazette.
