HM King and HRH Princess Sabeeka Celebrate 25th Anniversary of National Action Charter

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received a congratulatory cable from Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the National Action Charter.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HRH Princess Sabeeka extended her congratulations to His Majesty, reflecting on the anniversary as a pivotal moment in Bahrain's history that established a framework for governance based on the rule of law and institutions. She noted that this year's anniversary coincides with the 'Year of Isa Al Kabeer', commemorating the legacy of His Highness Isa Al Kabeer, the founder of the modern state, alongside the SCW marking its silver jubilee.

HRH Princess Sabeeka highlighted His Majesty's support for Bahraini women, emphasizing that the National Action Charter was instrumental in enhancing women's roles in national development and ensuring equal opportunities alongside men. She also expressed gratitude for His Majesty's acknowledgment of the centenary of formal government education for girls and the establishment of the first girls' school in 1928.

HRH reiterated the SCW's commitment to partnering with the government, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to implement the National Plan for the Advancement of Bahraini Women, ensuring sustained progress and leadership in the country's development.

In his response, His Majesty King Hamad sent a cable of thanks to HRH Princess Sabeeka, acknowledging the Charter as a significant milestone in Bahrain's modern history. He praised HRH's leadership and the contributions of Bahraini women in advancing the Charter's principles, broadening their participation in national development, and enhancing their standing and contributions.
