Manama: His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa held a meeting with His Excellency Abdel Fattah El Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The meeting was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, along with several ministers.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Majesty the King expressed pride in President El Sisi's visit, highlighting the longstanding ties between the two countries. He underscored Egypt's role as a fundamental pillar of security and stability in the region and appreciated Egypt's continuous support in addressing challenges faced by Bahrain and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, particularly in light of ongoing Iranian aggression against regional territories.
His Majesty also conveyed gratitude to President El Sisi for his solidarity with Bahrain's measures to defend its sovereignty, security, and the safety of its people. The meeting focused on regional developments and their security implications, particularly the continuous Iranian attacks targeting regional states. Both leaders emphasized that these actions violate national sovereignty and international laws, posing a threat to international peace and security.
Furthermore, His Majesty and President El Sisi reaffirmed their support for UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns Iranian attacks on the Arabian Gulf states and Jordan. The resolution calls for an immediate cessation of provocation and threats to neighboring countries, supporting the right of GCC states and Jordan to defend their territories.
The leaders stressed the importance of halting Iranian threats to disrupt navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital international waterway for global energy and trade. They asserted that protecting maritime corridors is a shared international responsibility requiring global and regional cooperation.
Finally, His Majesty and President El Sisi committed to strengthening ties and enhancing mutual coordination across various domains. They praised the advanced level of bilateral ties and emphasized the importance of further cooperation to meet the aspirations of both nations and support their prosperity.
