Manama: Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council (HEC), welcomed Nunzio Quacquarelli, Founder and Co-Chairman of UK-based Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), to discuss a partnership aimed at enhancing the quality of higher education. This meeting culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the HEC and QS.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the MoU was signed by Dr. Diana Al Jahromi, Secretary-General of the HEC, and Dr. Ashwin Fernandes, Chief Executive Officer of QS. The Minister stated that this agreement supports the HEC's initiatives to boost the competitiveness of higher education institutions in the Kingdom and expand international collaboration with global experts in university ranking systems.
The MoU is set to facilitate various cooperation areas, including capacity building within higher education institutions, improving institutional performance and global rankings, and working on international promotional activities in partnership with renowned universities and educational bodies. Quacquarelli highlighted that this collaboration is a significant step in enhancing quality and transparency in academic performance, as well as expanding the international cooperation network for higher education institutions.
