High Committee for Health Cities holds meeting

Manama, A World Health Organisation (WHO) expert is set to visit the Kingdom of Bahrain in September to accredit A’ali as a Health City.

The High Committee for Health Cities held a regular meeting to review preparations for the upcoming visit.

Northern Governor Ali Abdul Hussein Al Asfoor chaired the session, which was also attended by follow-up bureau chief Jaffer Al Halawi, Health Ministry’s Health Cities Programme Coordinator Bochra Al Hendi and committee members.

The governor stressed the importance of developing an action plan to match the theoretical report and the expert’s field visit.

He commended the report issued by the Healthy Cities Program coordinator, which indicated the implementation of more than 90% of the standards and requirements for accreditation.

The report also highlighted the level of cooperation of civil society and various government sectors in consolidating the comprehensive system for high accreditation of a healthy city, in addition to creating community awareness to strengthen the primary healthcare system in combating COVID-19 pandemic and other infectious diseases.
