Riffa: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa today chaired a meeting to review the latest developments on the National Afforestation Plan and the Bahrain Mangroves initiative at Riffa Palace. His Highness affirmed the Kingdom's commitment to implementing environmental initiatives and programmes that safeguard the environment and address climate change challenges. These efforts align with the visions of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of those leading these initiatives and aspired to maintain the current momentum to achieve further progress toward the initiative's goals. In observance of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem on 26 July, His Highness reaffirmed Bahrain's steadfast commitment to environmental preservation and ecological balance.
HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman highlighted Bahrain's support for global climate action, including efforts to double the number of mangrove trees and expand green spaces across the Kingdom's governorates. These efforts contribute towards Bahrain's goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
His Highness emphasized that the Bahrain Mangroves Initiative and the National Afforestation Plan reflect the Kingdom's commitment to balancing urban development demands with environmental conservation imperatives. These initiatives aim to integrate environmental considerations into Bahrain's urban planning framework, contributing to afforestation efforts and expanding green spaces.
