HH Shaikh Khalid Extends Congratulations on Bahrain’s Success at World Athletics Championships

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, extended congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the Kingdom of Bahrain's achievement at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, where Bahrain ranked first among Arab countries. The achievement came through Winfred Yavi's silver medal in the 3000m steeplechase and Salwa Eid Naser's bronze medal in the 400m.

According to Bahrain News Agency, HH Shaikh Khalid stated that this global success reflects the continued support Bahraini sport receives from His Majesty the King, enabling athletes to reach world podiums and represent the Kingdom at leading international events.

HH Shaikh Khalid added that the medals won by Winfred Yavi and Salwa Eid bring pride and reflect the support from His Majesty the King, the follow-up of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, and the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad to advance Bahraini sport. He expressed confidence that Bahraini athletes will continue to achieve further success and establish a distinguished record for the Kingdom.

Winfred Yavi secured silver in the steeplechase with a time of 8:56.46, while Salwa Eid won bronze in the 400m with a time of 48.19 seconds.
