HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Chairs 39th GCC Youth and Sports Ministers’ Meeting in Bahrain

Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, chaired the 39th GCC Youth and Sports Ministers' Meeting held in Bahrain. During the meeting, His Highness relayed greetings and wishes of success from His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the attending GCC ministers of youth and sports.

According to Bahrain News Agency, His Highness emphasized the enduring ties and shared goals among GCC countries, which serve as a foundation for progressing joint efforts, especially in the youth and sports sectors. These sectors are crucial in shaping the future of GCC nations. He underscored the significance of youth as essential drivers of development and highlighted Bahrain's pride in the success of Youth City 2030, an advanced model for youth empowerment.

During the meeting, His Highness introduced the Gadeha training camp, a new initiative aimed at engaging youth through educational, mental, and physical challenges. He emphasized the role of sports in uniting GCC citizens and strengthening bonds, inviting GCC countries to participate in the Arab Games in 2027, which Bahrain will host. His Highness also wished success to GCC teams participating in the upcoming 20th Asian Games in Japan and extended best wishes to Saudi Arabia for its hosting of the 27th Arabian Gulf Cup football tournament.

Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, commended Bahrain for hosting the meeting and acknowledged its support for joint GCC action, particularly in youth and sports sectors. He reiterated the GCC leaders' commitment to investing in youth and empowering them to contribute to various sectors.

The meeting concluded with discussions and approvals of agenda items, joint youth and sports programs, and events. It focused on enhancing cooperation among GCC countries in youth and sports, supporting joint action, and meeting the aspirations of GCC youth.
