Manama: His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the General Sports Authority, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, has issued Edict (4) of 2026 and Edict (5) of 2026, which mark significant appointments in the realm of Bahraini sports governance.
According to Bahrain News Agency, Edict (4) of 2026 has led to the appointment of George William John William Chisholm as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Rugby Federation. This appointment comes after a thorough review of the Law on Social and Cultural Associations and Clubs, Private Organisations Operating in the Field of Youth and Sport, and Private Institutions, as articulated in Decree-Law (21) of 1989 and its subsequent amendments. The edict further mandates that the Secretary-General and all relevant parties are to execute the edict within their respective capacities, with immediate effect from its date of issuance.
In a similar vein, Edict (5) of 2026 sees the appointment of Abdulla Abdulrahman Obaid Awadh Musayger to the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Billiards and Darts Federation. This decision follows the same legal and statutory review process as the previous edict. The implementation of this edict is also immediate, with the Secretary-General and other concerned entities tasked with its execution within their respective domains.
These appointments are part of ongoing efforts to enhance the governance and operational efficiency of sports federations in Bahrain, in alignment with the overarching legislative frameworks and unified statutes governing sports entities in the country.
