Manama: The final competitions of the seventh edition of the His Highness Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season commenced on the 24th anniversary of the adoption of the National Action Charter (NAC), drawing significant participation from various age groups. According to Bahrain News Agency, the 500-metre open water swimming competition saw Mohamed Yahya Al Jafan take first place in the 30-45 age category, with Hamad Mohamed Al Mansoori and Mohamed Abdulaziz Al Dosari finishing in second and third places, respectively. In the over-45 category, Sanad Bader Bahar secured the top spot, followed by Nawaf Hamad Al Atawi in second and Abdulrahman Jassim Abdulrahman in third. The traditional rowing competition was marked by the victory of the Samoom team, led by Nokhatha Hamad Jassim Al Deery. The I'sar team, under the leadership of Nokhatha Abdullah Khalifa Al Hiddi, secured second place, while the Kaser Al Amwaj team, led by Nokhatha Jassim Ahmed Al Asaly, came in third. The finals of the season will proceed next week with the Bahrain Cup traditional rowing competition, which is anticipated to witness intense competition among qualifying teams. This event is part of the ongoing initiatives to preserve heritage sports and promote national identity. The HH Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season, organized by the Bahrain Inherited Traditional Sports Committee (Mawrooth), stands as one of the Kingdom's prominent heritage competitions. It aims to revive Bahrain's rich maritime traditions, which have historically positioned it as a regional hub for pearl diving.
