Kagoshima: Heavy rain struck Japan's southern island of Kyushu on Friday, causing floods and landslides and prompting authorities to issue the highest level warnings in parts of the region. A landslide occurred in Isa City, Kagoshima Prefecture, burying two people who were rescued and taken to hospital. Authorities issued evacuation orders for more than 360,000 residents in Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures. Television footage showed muddy water flowing through rivers and knee-deep floods in Kirishima City.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the downpour halted train and bus services and led to the cancellation of dozens of flights in Kagoshima. The government formed an emergency task force to support affected residents.
