Health Ministry Signs Cooperation Programme with Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation

Manama: Lieutenant General Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), received Dr. Talal Turki Al Goufi, Director General of the Saudi Centre for Organ Transplantation, and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, and other officials. During the meeting, a cooperation programme was signed under the Memorandum of Understanding between Bahrain's Ministry of Health and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Health, aimed at enhancing cooperation in healthcare and organ transplantation. The agreement was signed by Dr. Lulwa Rashid Showaiter, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, and Dr. Talal Turki Al Goufi.

According to Bahrain News Agency, the programme seeks to facilitate organ donation and transplantation procedures, standardise processes between both countries, and enhance cooperation in training, capacity building, and research. It also aims to leverage specialised medical expertise to improve healthcare services.

Dr. Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdulla underscored the importance of the agreement in strengthening health cooperation between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, highlighting its role in advancing healthcare services and ensuring high quality medical care.

Dr. Jalila bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan affirmed that the programme reflects both countries' commitment to strengthening collaboration in healthcare, particularly in organ transplantation, which requires close coordination to achieve optimal outcomes. She noted that the recent introduction of a national electronic platform for organ donation in Bahrain will facilitate the donation process and improve coordination between relevant authorities.

The agreement is expected to open new avenues for collaboration in training and knowledge exchange, contributing to the development of healthcare services and workforce capabilities in both countries.
