Manama: Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, received Dr. Khalid bin Humaid Al Rasadi, Director of the Medical Research Centre (MRC) at Sultan Qaboos University, along with his delegation.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the visit aimed to explore Bahrain's expertise in genomics, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on health cooperation between the health ministries of Bahrain and Oman. This MoU was signed during His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's state visit to Oman.
The minister highlighted the cooperation between Bahrain and Oman in various domains, especially in the health sector. She emphasized the importance of mutual visits and agreements to enhance coordination and achieve shared benefits for both countries and their people.
The minister underscored the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in public health, focusing on genomics.
The Omani delegation toured the Public Health Directorate building, including the National Genome Centre laboratory, where they were briefed on its operations and activities. The delegation commended Bahrain's efforts in genomics, acknowledging the Ministry of Health's dedication to exchanging expertise and improving collaboration in public health.
