Cairo: Dr. Jaleela bint Al Sayed Jawad Hasan, Minister of Health, participated in the opening of the 72nd session of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, held in Cairo. The session saw the involvement of health ministers and representatives from various member states.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the minister underscored Bahrain's dedication to contributing to collective health initiatives at both regional and international stages. She highlighted Bahrain's focus on advancing its healthcare system and enhancing the quality of health services in alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals.
The opening session featured remarks from the Chair of the previous session, the WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, and the WHO Director General. They addressed the prevailing health challenges and opportunities to bolster joint action. Discussions on the first day covered public health emergencies in the region, polio eradication efforts, and issues concerning governance and budgeting.
