Manama: The General Sports Authority (GSA) and the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) have entered into a naming rights sponsorship agreement for Khalifa Sports City, marking a pivotal step in bolstering sports infrastructure in the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the signing ceremony witnessed the presence of several prominent figures, including His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who serves as the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), the President of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and the President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Vice Chairman of the GSA, and Shaikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Vice President of the BOC, were also in attendance.
Dr. Abdulrahman Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the GSA, signed the agreement on behalf of the authority, while Osman Ahmed, Group Chief Executive of NBB, represented the bank. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad remarked that the agreement exemplifies a model of integration between the sports sector and private sector institutions, pointing out that the naming rights sponsorship will aid in the sustainability and enhancement of sports facilities, adhering to international standards.
HH Shaikh Khalid emphasized that the collaboration with NBB underscores the bank's dedication to advancing Bahraini sports and improving sports facilities to host both local and international events, aligning with the Kingdom's advancements in this field. He also mentioned that such initiatives enhance the management efficiency of sports facilities and create more opportunities for sports investment. His Highness reiterated the authority's commitment to fostering partnerships that support the sector's developmental objectives.
This agreement is part of a broader initiative to develop Khalifa Sports City as a prime venue for sports activities and events, further supporting athletes and the Kingdom's sports sector.
