Government Hospitals CEO Highlights Leadership Support for Healthcare Sector on International Nurses Day

Manama: Dr. Maryam Athbi Al Jalahma, CEO of the Government Hospitals administration, said that the support and attention given to the health sector by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have helped establish an advanced healthcare system based on efficiency, sustainability, and service quality, while strengthening the role of national medical cadres, particularly nursing as a core pillar of integrated healthcare delivery.

According to Bahrain News Agency, on International Nurses Day, observed annually on May 12, Dr. Al Jalahma emphasized that nursing staff at Government Hospitals represent a model of humanitarian and professional dedication, demonstrating high competence, strong commitment, and the ability to handle various conditions and challenges. She noted that their daily efforts contribute to patient safety, improved healthcare quality, and higher standards of care in the Kingdom.

Dr. Al Jalahma added that nursing is a key partner in developing healthcare services through its role in quality and patient safety programmes, training and continuous education, and improving patient experience, in line with national efforts to advance the health sector and achieve the highest standards of care.

She further noted that this year's theme, "Our Nurses. Our Future. Empowered Nurses Save Lives", reflects the importance of investing in and empowering nursing competencies as a key element in sustaining healthcare services and protecting community health. She affirmed that the Government Hospitals will continue to support nursing staff through training and professional development programmes, enhancing the work environment, and providing opportunities that highlight their humanitarian and leadership role in the healthcare system.
