Government Hospitals and Bahrain Trust Foundation Launch Micro School Initiative at Psychiatric Hospital

Manama: Government Hospitals, in cooperation with Bahrain Trust Foundation, have launched an initiative to operate a micro school at the Psychiatric Hospital. The initiative aims to enhance the hospital's rehabilitative and educational services and support patients' reintegration into society.

According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Mariam Adhbi Al Jalahma, Chief Executive Officer of Government Hospitals, emphasized the importance of the initiative in enhancing the hospital's rehabilitation programmes. She noted the role of education as a complementary element of healthcare that contributes to psychological recovery, and commended the contribution of civil society organisations to supporting health and social policies.

Dr. Al Jalahma said the initiative builds on earlier projects implemented in other wards, such as the Deena Kanoo Micro School for paediatric patients at Salmaniya Medical Complex, which was launched in the paediatric oncology ward (202) and children's ward (31). The initiative offers a stimulating learning environment that supports patients' cognitive and social development and complements rehabilitative care.

On her part, Dr. Fatima Mohamed Al Balooshi, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Bahrain Trust Foundation, said that the micro schools initiative reflects the foundation's vision of bringing education to all segments of society and transforming healthcare institutions into platforms for empowerment and hope.

She added that the initiative aims to provide flexible learning environments within healthcare and social institutions, enabling individuals to develop their skills despite the challenges they face.
