Government Approves Procurement of One Cargo LNG and 30,000 MTs Fertilizer

Dhaka: The government today approved separate proposals for procuring one cargo of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and 30,000 metric tons (MTs) of fertilizer to meet the country's growing demand.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the approvals came from the 23rd meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase (ACCGP) this year, held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed presiding over the session.

Following a proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla is set to procure one cargo of LNG from the spot market. This procurement will follow the international quotation method from M/S Excelerate Energy LP, USA, with an estimated cost of around Taka 612.54 crore.

In another proposal, the Ministry of Industries has facilitated the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) to purchase 30,000 MTs of bagged granular urea fertilizer from KAFCO, Bangladesh. This procurement is under the 17th lot for the current fiscal year, with each ton of fertilizer costing $383.25, amounting to approximately Taka 140.27 crore.

Additionally, the day's purchase committee meeting also approved separate proposals from the Road Transport and Highways Division and Security Service Division.
