Manama: The Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) convened for its 2025 General Assembly, where Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa was officially endorsed as President. The assembly, which took place in Manama, also saw the election of key members from various sports federations, marking a significant step forward for the BPC.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the newly elected members include Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa from the Bahrain Cycling Federation, Shaikh Sultan bin Daij Al Khalifa from the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation, and Naaman Rashid Al Hassan from the Bahrain Marine Sports Federation. Other elected members are Dr. Sawsan Haji Taqawi of the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation, Ruqaya Al Ghasra of the Bahrain Athletics Federation, Eshaq Ebrahim Eshaq from the Bahrain Weightlifting Federation, Maryam Fouad Shehab of the Bahrain Deaf Sports Federation, and Fajar Al Binali from the Bahrain Combat Sports Council.
Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij emphasized the importance of preparations for upcoming events such as the Asian Youth Games in Dubai and the West Asian Games in Muscat. He highlighted the need for teamwork and coordination to achieve successful outcomes in these major sporting events.
Ali Mohammed Al Majed, Secretary General of the BPC, played a pivotal role in organizing the elections of key members from various sports federations. The assembly focused on reviewing past achievements, setting future goals, and underscoring the importance of transparency, talent development, and infrastructure improvement within the BPC.
In addition to the elections, Shaikh Ahmed bin Salman Al Khalifa, Executive Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs at the BPC, presented the proposed 2026 budget. This budget aims to support ongoing programs and ensure the continued advancement of Paralympic sports in Bahrain, both regionally and internationally. The meeting concluded with a unified commitment to collective efforts to further the cause of Paralympic sports in the country.
