Athens: Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and David Lammy, Deputy Prime Minister and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom, convened on the sidelines of the 1st Euro-Gulf Geopolitical and Investment Summit held in Greece.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the GCC and the UK. The discussions aimed at overcoming obstacles and aligning perspectives on the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the two sides, with an emphasis on paving the way for its signing soon. Both leaders praised the significant progress achieved in the FTA negotiations so far.
In addition to trade discussions, Al Budaiwi acknowledged the UK's supportive stance towards GCC countries in response to Iranian aggressions faced by the Council states. Both parties highlighted the importance of unifying and intensifying international efforts to enhance security and stability in the region and globally.
