Brussels: At the invitation of Dr. Mohammed Ali Behzad, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Kingdom of Belgium, a significant meeting took place involving the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ambassadors to Belgium and key European leaders. This gathering, part of Bahrain's presidency of the GCC, included discussions with Maxime Pr©vot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Foreign Trade of Belgium, and Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Defence of Luxembourg.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting focused on the Iranian aggression against GCC member states that began on February 28. The discussions aimed to strengthen joint coordination between the GCC countries and their European partners to establish a unified European stance against the aggression, especially ahead of the forthcoming European Council summit.
During the meeting, Dr. Behzad highlighted that the Iranian actions represent a breach of international law and threaten global peace, security, and energy stability. He underscored the importance of international support and expressed gratitude for Belgium and Luxembourg's positions on the security of the Arabian Gulf.
In response, the Belgian and Luxembourg ministers reiterated their condemnation of Iran's actions and emphasized the necessity of upholding state sovereignty and international law. They voiced their full support for the GCC's initiatives to maintain regional stability and security.
The ministers also stressed the importance of ongoing bilateral and multilateral coordination to promote security and stability in the Arabian Gulf and beyond.
