Rio de Janeiro: The G20 Leaders' Summit brings together Heads of State and Government from the world's largest economies to discuss solutions to today's major global challenges in Rio de Janeiro. The meeting continues until tomorrow, 19 November, when Brazil will symbolically hand over the forum's presidency to South Africa. According to Bahrain News Agency, under Brazil's leadership, which has held the rotating G20 presidency since December 2023, more than 130 preparatory meetings have been held across various Brazilian cities. This period marks the return of Brazil's leadership on the international stage. One of the main achievements of the Brazilian presidency is the establishment of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, which President Lula will officially launch during the opening session. The initiati ve has already garnered the support of several countries and international organisations, creating practical mechanisms for implementing effective public policies to combat hunger. The meeting brings together leaders from G20 member countries, such as American President Joe Biden, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and French President Emmanuel Macron, as well as representatives from international organisations such as United Nations Secretary General António Guterres and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Brazil has also invited leaders from non-member countries and regional organisations, highlighting the forum's inclusive approach.
