(BNA): Foreign Ministry Undersecretary for Political Affairs, Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, chaired the GCC side during the meeting of senior officials for the political dialogue between the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union, which was held virtually today, with the participation of the GCC Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Negotiations, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Owaishek.
The EU side was headed by the Director of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) of the EU External Affairs Service, Ambassador Fernando Gentilini.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah praised mutual interest in strengthening GCC-EU political dialogue, describing it as a solid and effective pillar for consolidating regional and international security and confronting existing challenges.
He stressed that the meeting is an exceptional opportunity to build on the progress made in the partnership between the two sides, and to invest in close strategic relations with the EU at all levels, especially in political understanding and coordination.
The meeting also revolved around exchanging views and discussing positions on issues of common interest, in addition to following up on the latest developments in cooperation between the two sides.
