Foreign Ministry Celebrates Bahraini Women’s Day with Focus on Innovation

Manama: The Equal Opportunities Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an event to mark Bahraini Women's Day 2025, celebrated this year under the theme "Bahraini Women: Distinction, Creativity, Innovation".

According to Bahrain News Agency, Ambassador Dr. Yousef Abdulkarim Bucheeri, Director General of Legal Affairs and Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chair of the Equal Opportunities Committee, highlighted that the day was established through the initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa. As Consort of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), Princess Sabeeka initiated this celebration in recognition of the leading contributions of Bahraini women to national development.

Dr. Bucheeri commended the significant role played by female employees of the ministry in enhancing Bahrain's presence on both regional and international diplomatic stages. He pointed out that Bahraini women now constitute 38% of the diplomatic corps, showcasing the ministry's success in supporting female talent and enabling them to assume leadership positions and represent Bahrain in international forums.

Expressing gratitude to Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Bucheeri emphasized the minister's continued support and trust in the Equal Opportunities Committee. This backing has been pivotal in improving the ministry's working environment, expanding opportunities for Bahraini women, and affirming their role as active partners in peace-building and advancing sustainable diplomatic, developmental, and civilisational achievements.

Dr. Bucheeri reiterated the Committee's commitment to further developing an institutional environment that ensures equal opportunities for all ministry personnel. He also discussed ongoing efforts to empower Bahraini women in diplomacy and broaden the professional pathways through which they contribute to achieving the foreign policy objectives of the Kingdom.
