Foreign Ministers of Bahrain and UAE Discuss Regional Security and Strait of Hormuz

Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a telephone call today with His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates. The two sides reviewed the close historic fraternal relations between the two countries and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral coordination and consultation on current international issues.

According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, the ministers also discussed the latest regional developments and regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, enhance regional security and stability, and facilitate the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic. This includes ensuring the safety and security of navigation and safeguarding the rights and interests of regional states and the wider international community, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The call also included an exchange of views on issues of mutual interest.
