Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call from Beate Meinl-Reisinger, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Austria. The discussion between the two ministers focused on significant regional developments, including the consequences of Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain, GCC countries, and other states in the region.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the ministers addressed the impact of Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, which poses challenges to the global economy, international trade, and energy and food supply chains. They examined ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions and ensure security and stability.
Additionally, Dr. Al Zayani and Minister Meinl-Reisinger explored prospects for enhanced bilateral coordination and consultation. This discussion is particularly relevant as Bahrain is set to take a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2026-2027 term, offering new opportunities for international collaboration.
