Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received Carolyn Rodrigues-Birkett, candidate of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana for the post of United Nations Secretary-General, during her visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain today. According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs - Bahrain, the meeting focused on the bilateral relations between Bahrain and Guyana, emphasizing their continued development in areas of mutual interest. Both nations aim to support their shared interests and the welfare of their peoples. During the meeting, Ms. Rodrigues-Birkett presented her campaign programme and outlined her vision for the role of UN Secretary-General for the upcoming term. Dr. Al Zayani expressed his best wishes for her success, highlighting the significant role of the UN Secretary-General in fostering global development, prosperity, and maintaining international peace and security. The meeting was also attended by Hatem Abdulhamid Hatem, Chief of International Organisations Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
