Foreign Minister Receives Call from Chinese Counterpart


Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, received a telephone call from Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, during which they discussed developments in the region and the Iranian attack on the Kingdom of Bahrain.



According to Bahrain News Agency, during the call, the Chinese Foreign Minister conveyed the greetings of His Excellency Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China, to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, along with his wishes for Bahrain’s continued security, peace, and stability. He commended the depth of the longstanding relations between the two countries and their peoples and expressed his country’s solidarity and sympathy with the Kingdom amid the Iranian missile attacks against Bahrain. He affirmed China’s firm rejection of the armed attacks targeting the Kingdom, emphasizing his country’s commitment to respecting sovereignty and territorial integrity, avoiding escalation into war, and safeguarding freedom of international navigation.



The Chinese Foreign Minister noted that the immediate priority is a cessation of military operations and a return to dialogue and negotiations, affirming that China will continue its efforts to promote peace in the region. He also called for enhanced diplomatic coordination and consultation between the two countries through their membership in the United Nations Security Council, expressing his country’s wishes for Bahrain’s continued security, stability, and peace.



On his part, the Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed his sincere appreciation to the Chinese Foreign Minister for the sentiments of solidarity conveyed toward the Kingdom of Bahrain in light of the Iranian missile attacks, as well as for China’s support for the measures undertaken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security and stability. He underscored the importance of continued cooperation and coordination between the two countries’ permanent missions to the United Nations regarding the international issues under consideration by the Security Council, and expressed his wishes for the People’s Republic of China and its people continued security, stability, and prosperity.
