Manama: Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, took part in the 48th extraordinary meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council. The meeting focused on addressing recent regional and international developments and aligning the positions of GCC member states.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the meeting was conducted via videoconference and was chaired by Abdullah Ali Al Yahya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and current President of the ministerial council. The session also saw the participation of Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC.
The Council released a statement urging an immediate ceasefire between Israel and Iran to uphold regional security and stability. It called on all involved parties to collaborate in reducing tensions and emphasized the importance of diplomacy in resolving disputes. Additionally, the statement advocated for the continuation of US-Iran negotiations concerning the Iranian nuclear issue, with the Sultanate of Oman acting as a mediator.
